Russian Blue Cat
The Russian Blue is thought to have travelled from the port of Archangel in northern Russia, carried to Britain by sailors in the 1800s. Its dense double coat stands up and away from the body instead of lying flat, giving it a plush, seal-like texture rarely seen in a domestic cat. Reserved with strangers and slow to trust, they attach firmly to their own household and follow their chosen person from room to room.
Each portrait is an original watercolour: confident, visible brushstrokes on cold-press paper, in the tradition of natural-history illustration rather than smoothed-over digital art. Real paper grain, real pigment variation, the occasional soft bloom where wet colour met wet colour.
This portrait keeps that upright, close-set coat and the vivid green eyes that seem to weigh you up before deciding you'll do.
Available coat colourways: Black and Grey - match the portrait to your own cat, or simply choose the one you love most.
