How are the portraits made?

Each portrait begins with AI image generation trained on traditional watercolour technique, and every one is then reviewed, corrected and curated by a person before it is offered for sale. We would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise. Nothing is a generic template with a name swapped in.

Can I commission a portrait of my own pet?

Yes. Upload a clear photo on the commission page - any breed, any age, any pose - and we will paint your companion in watercolour. Take it as a download, a poster, or both. The finished portrait is yours to own: we do not resell it, relist it, or add it to the collection.

What is the difference between the download and the poster?

The download is a print-ready file, delivered the instant you check out, at 300 DPI — large enough to print at 70×100 cm without softening. You print it yourself, as often as you like, on whatever paper you choose.

The poster is printed for you on heavyweight, fade-resistant archival matte paper and posted to your door, finished and ready to frame. A side-by-side comparison is on the how it works page.

Why are there several colours of the same animal?

Because your dog is not the same colour as everyone else's. Most portraits are painted in several coat colourways so you can match the picture to the animal you actually live with. Each colourway is a separate painting rather than the same image recoloured — switch between them on the product page and watch the whole picture change.

How long will my order take?

Downloads arrive immediately. Posters are printed to order: allow up to 10 working days in production — in practice both our partners average under two — then delivery time on top. That is 1–2 working days to Germany, 2–3 to Czechia, 5–8 across the rest of the EU, 5–15 to Sweden, the Nordics, EFTA, Ireland and the UK, and 2–5 within the United States. Where do you ship, and what does it cost?

Throughout the European Union, the UK and Ireland, Northern Europe and EFTA (Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein), and the United States. We print in Czechia for Europe and in Pennsylvania for the US, so nothing is shipped across the Atlantic. Shipping is calculated at checkout from your real address and is never hidden in the price of the print. Orders over 500 kr ship free.

What paper are the posters printed on?

Heavyweight archival matte — a fade-resistant, uncoated stock that holds watercolour tones without the glare of a gloss finish. It is the paper the work was designed for: matte keeps the paper grain and pigment variation visible, which is the whole point of a watercolour.

Can I return a poster if I change my mind?

No — and it is worth explaining why rather than hiding it in the small print. Every poster is printed after you order it, so there is no shelf to put it back on and no one else it can be sold to. What we do instead is replace anything that arrives damaged, faulty or wrong, at our cost, with no return postage to pay. The returns page sets out exactly how that works.

My poster arrived damaged. What now?

Email us within 30 days with your order number, a photo of the damage, and a photo of the poster cut through. We do not ask you to post it back — sending a damaged print across a border costs more than making a new one, and it would only be thrown away at our end. The cut confirms it is out of circulation, and the replacement goes to print as soon as we see it.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Closely, but never exactly. Your screen is backlit and emits light; paper reflects it. Every monitor is calibrated differently too. Expect the print to read slightly softer and warmer than the screen — that is normal for any fine-art print. A genuine printing fault is a different thing, and we will replace it.

Can I use the artwork commercially?

Buying a download or a poster gives you the right to use it personally — printing, framing, hanging, giving it away. Reselling it, redistributing the file, or using it commercially is not included. If you have a specific use in mind, ask us and we will talk it through.

Can I get a size that is not listed?

Often, yes. The digital download is supplied at 300 DPI at 70×100 cm, so any size up to that is yours to print locally. If you want a printed poster in a size we do not list, write to us and we will see what our print partners can do.

Do you offer framing?

Not at the moment. The posters are printed to standard A-series and US sizes precisely so that an off-the-shelf frame fits without a custom mount.

What sizes are available?

Europe: A4 (21×30 cm), A3 (30×42 cm), A2 (42×59 cm), A1 (59×84 cm). United States: 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, 18×24 and 24×36 inches. Landscape portraits come in the same sizes turned on their side. Prices are on the how it works page.
