Australian Shepherd

Despite the name, the Australian Shepherd was bred on ranches in the American West, developed by Basque shepherds who arrived by way of Australia to work sheep in nineteenth-century California. They are quick-thinking, quicker-moving, and built for a full day's work. Life with an Aussie means a dog that reads your intentions before you've finished the sentence, and invents a job if you fail to give it one.

Each portrait is an original watercolour: confident, visible brushstrokes on cold-press paper, in the tradition of natural-history illustration rather than smoothed-over digital art. Real paper grain, real pigment variation, the occasional soft bloom where wet colour met wet colour.
